In March 2020, just before lockdown, I had a first MRI on my left hip but never received the results. In November that year, I had a crisis moment whilst out walking my dog, when everything seized. I don’t remember getting home but from that moment, I lost the ability to properly walk/drive/garden and just go about my every day. I was in a lot of discomfort and my life became smaller. Finally in 2023 and after investigations, I underwent a hip replacement. There was no official rehab given to me but I made weekly visits to the Osteopath who kept my body as free of tension as possible whilst I began using my left hip again. The Consultant suggested that I would only achieve 80% recovery in the new hip.Added to this, is a chronic lower back problem which I have, never fully diagnosed.
Wendy was on my radar and my objective was to work with the Osteopath so that I could drive again and visit Wendy. In November 2024 that happened.Since then I have made weekly sessions with Wendy, mainly using the Reformer and I have gone from strength to strength literally. My flexibility has improved. My strength is brilliant. My hip is back to being a hip 100% including fully supporting my back.I now walk/drive/garden/walk my dogs/craft/travel and do all the things that I love to do. My confidence and self esteem have hugely improved as a result”
My client’s story is a true inspiration. She never gives up and we up the ante when we can and when the body feels safe to do so. In-between our sessions she practices at home for a few minutes each day, enabling her to maintain and continue all the good work that she has done. She is just back from a weekend in Manchester where she explored on foot with a friend, all that the city has to offer. The joy on her face when she did hip flexors to open up the hips this morning, just had to be snapped! It’s all about team work between an instructor and a client and I am privileged to work with fabulous human beings.
